Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are Super Bowl contenders according to Peter Schrager. During a special appearance on ESPN’s First Take, his prediction was so surprising that Stephen A. Smith ended up giving him a hug.
“I don’t think it’s crazy to think a Super Bowl appearance is out of their sights. I think this is a team that prides itself on defense over the years. A team that’s gotten to the playoffs every year and hasn’t had an elite quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger left. They didn’t do this to just mess around (sign Aaron Rodgers).”
It’s important to note that, as of now, the Steelers are not odds favorites at all heading into the 2025 NFL season. Various markets have them ranked around 15th or 16th in overall chances. A massive uphill battle.
Will Aaron Rodgers win Super Bowl with Steelers?
Aaron Rodgers has a chance to win the Super Bowl with the Steelers, according to Schrager. The ESPN panelist pointed out that otherwise, the Steelers wouldn’t have made a massive trade for DK Metcalf.
“They did this because they think that they’re a team that can get over the hump. There were a lot of different options. I believe it though. I honestly do. You don’t trade a second round pick and pay a wide receiver $30 million (DK Metcalf) if you don’t think this is a team with a window.”
