Mike Tomlin has made a decision that could spark some controversy between Aaron Rodgers and his teammates. Starting July 23, the Pittsburgh Steelers will report to training camp in Latrobe with a major change compared to previous years: practices will now be held in the afternoon.
“It wasn’t hot enough last year to be quite honest with you. Heat aids in the development of physical conditioning. It makes it a more stressful environment, and that’s what we go to camp for. We go to camp to get better, and if it’s a little bit more miserable late in the day, man, that’s what we want.”
Right now, the Steelers are far from favorites to win the Super Bowl, sitting at +4000 odds. But from Tomlin’s perspective, the physical conditioning in Latrobe could be the boost they need to make a serious championship run.
Mike Tomlin had a special detail for Aaron Rodgers
Mike Tomlin organized a special dinner for his coaching staff following the Pittsburgh Steelers’ mandatory minicamp. The information was confirmed by a report from Kelvin Reynolds.
“People from a well-known west Alabama restaurant left the state to give some home cooking to dozens of pro-football coaches. A long friendship and building trust with the team’s head coach over sparked that business trip. Woodrow Washington, the owner of Archibald’s BBQ and Archibald and Woodrow’s, developed a relationship with coaches for the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

“Washington says Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin hired him to come to Pittsburgh and cook for his assistants for a special event. He shared pictures of him and his staff posing for pictures with Tomlin and some Steeler coaches. Quarterback Aaron Rogers, who just signed with the Steelers, also took pictures with the guys from Woodrow’s. They cooked 240 rib slabs and 650 chicken wings.”
