Ben Roethlisberger sent a clear message to all the critics of Aaron Rodgers, pointing out that despite the quarterback being 41 years old, the star can be a great help to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It all happened during another edition of his podcast Footbahlin.
“Don’t judge that man yet. He can still throw the ball. Achilles is a big injury. He was a threat with his legs and, yeah, he doesn’t have it anymore, but, when you have an arm like that and can throw the ball the way you do, that’s a weapon. The first year back from a serious injury, you’re not back. It’s the year after. People are like, ‘oh, he doesn’t quite have it anymore’. No. You need to get at least one more year removed from that injury. You’re still getting back. My first year back from the elbow, I was like: ‘Oh, I feel fine, I feel great. I’m good.’ The next year I was like: ‘Oh, I wasn’t all the way back.’ You know? I just had a little tail when I would throw a spiral. It had just a little wiggle on the back tail sometimes. Then, the next year is back to being normal.”
Aaron Rodgers is still deciding whether he will sign with the Steelers in pursuit of the final Super Bowl of his career, but many of his critics believe that age and injuries will be an obstacle for him.
Is Aaron Rodgers a free agent?
Yes. Aaron Rodgers is a free agent, which allows him to sign with any team he chooses. The Steelers are the only team that has made a formal offer, although the quarterback’s original preference was the Minnesota Vikings.
Undoubtedly, Rodgers’ delay in making a decision has to do with the fact that this is his last big chance to chase a championship. The problem is that if he doesn’t act soon, he could end up without a team, and might have to consider retirement.
Big Ben also surprised listeners on his podcast by saying that, although he believes Rodgers will ultimately play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, there could be a surprise team (not the Vikings) waiting in the wings to make a bold move and sign the veteran quarterback.
