The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a very complicated position according to the latest report from Adam Schefter. Aaron Rodgers has not shown any signs of a final decision, and that process could extend for several weeks.
“They’re in the dark. They don’t know exactly what he’s going to wind up doing. They don’t know whether he’s going to come and play in Pittsburgh, whether he’s going to wait for an opportunity down the line with Minnesota or somebody else or whether, as some people believe, he might not play football at all this year. All options seem to be on the table. We haven’t heard from Aaron Rodgers himself.”
Many fans and experts have criticized head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan for leaving much of next season’s future in Rodgers’ hands. Despite being a Super Bowl champion, many don’t think it’s worth the wait with him being 41 years old.
Will Aaron Rodgers sign contract with Steelers?
Aaron Rodgers will not sign a contract with the Steelers for the moment, as he is still considering the possibility of joining the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran knows that Kevin O’Connell has an impressive roster and that J.J. McCarthy could fail. For this reason, Schefter predicts a long wait in Pittsburgh.
“The fact of the matter is the Steelers have been interested in Aaron Rodgers now for weeks and it has not gotten to the point from Aaron Rodgers where he is ready to commit to the Pittsburgh Steelers. So, while we wait, we don’t know when there could be clarity. Nobody knows for sure. The Pittsburgh Steelers remain in the dark.”
