The saga involving Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers still has no final resolution, so from the franchise’s side, all eyes are on the upcoming NFL Draft. General Manager Omar Khan spoke about what’s to come, with this event being an important opportunity to strengthen Mike Tomlin’s roster.

In a recent interview published on the official Steelers‘ YouTube page, Khan discussed the team’s roster construction for what’s ahead, making it clear that they want to have a competitive enough team so that they won’t be forced to use the draft to fill a specific position.

“Our goal is always to put ourselves in a position where we don’t have to take a guy at a specific position,” the General Manager Khan said in the recent interview.

“And I feel like we’ve added some key pieces to what we’re trying to accomplish. And this draft is, there’s some really good players in this draft that can help us at various positions. And we’ve been working hard at trying to make sure we set our board right, and there’s more work to come. This is the next three or four weeks are going to be really important, but we’re right in the middle of it and feel good about it.”

Will Rodgers sign with the Steelers?

Speculation regarding the potential arrival of the former Packers and Jets player to Pittsburgh continues to grow with each passing day. Visits, calls, and various rumors link the veteran to Tomlin’s team, especially after the departures of Russell Wilson to the Giants and Justin Fields to the Jets.

Despite this, there is still no certainty regarding what the former Super Bowl champion will do with his future, as he is in the final stage of his career. While retirement is one option, he could also choose to sign with a franchise for a short-term deal.

While they still await a decision regarding Rodgers’ plans for the upcoming season, the Steelers have reportedly chosen their starting quarterback: Mason Rudolph.
