All things in life eventually come to an end. And, sadly, football careers aren't usually that long-lived, which is one of the reasons why people laud Tom Brady so much. Besides being one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, he's still going strong after 2 decades in the NFL.

But no one, not even Brady can defeat Father Time. Eventually, he'll have to hang the cleats and his career will have to come to an end, even if he still doesn't feel ready to call it quits and walk away from the game.

Recently, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers star opened up on his plans beyond football, confirming that he'll play at least through the 2022 season. After that, he's not so sure how he'll look on the gridiron.

Tom Brady Says He'll Play Through 2022 And Then His Family Could Make Him Retire

"Beyond that, I don’t know,” Brady told the Wall Street Journal. “Maybe it’s another year after that; maybe it’s two. I’ll have to see where I’m at with my family. That’s probably the overriding factor — what I’m missing out on. I don’t want to be out there and suck. You think I want to go out there and look like I’m 44 years old? I want to look like I’m in my prime."

Brady's too competitive to look washed on the field. We've seen countless legends look like they've played a couple of years too much (we're looking at you, Ben Roethlisberger) and stain their legacies with poor performances.

Brady Says Nothing Will Top His Football Career

Tom Brady knows that his résumé is pretty much unmatched. He put everything out there week in and week out and feels like there's nothing that will ever make him feel the same way after football:

“I don’t think anything will match my football career,” the future Hall of Famer concluded. “I think it’s too hard to replicate that level of energy and output and adrenaline. That’s kind of why I want to go until the end, because I want to make sure I don’t look back and go, ‘Man, I could still do it.’"

Looking back, it's easy to tell why people consider Tom Brady to be the greatest player of all time. So, even if you've never liked him as a player or a person, you better start enjoying his game because he won't be around much longer.
