“I think with how we play the last couple games against good teams, there’s a confidence…” Larkin hinted that Detroit could overtake one of the current Wild Card holders—the Canadiens or Senators. With 79 points, the Red Wings sit just behind in the third spot, eyeing a potential leap.
He also pointed to their success earlier in the year as something the team is trying to recreate down the stretch: “We got nice stretches after Christmas, that’s what we’re looking for to close out the season.”
