Seattle Sounders FC is coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history. The 2-time MLS Cup champions will bring their A-squad to Orlando, where they’ll try and defend their crown in the pitch of theESPN Wide World of Sports Complex onWalt Disney World Resort, Florida.
Brian Schmetzer’s boys will highlight Group B of the Western Conference, where they’re expected to have a somewhat light path towards the round of 16. However, they’ll need to back that narrative up with their performances on the pitch.
Group B (Western Conference)
1.Seattle Sounders FC
2.Chicago Fire FC
3.Vancouver Whitecaps
4.San Jose Earthquakes
The Sounders will kick off their season by facing San Jose Earthquakes on July 10at 10:30 p.m (ET). Later on, they will play against Chicago Fire on July 14 at 9:00 a.m (ET). Last, but not least, they’ll play vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 19at 10:30 p.m ET.
A lot of pressure
Being the defending champions, the Seattle Sounders will definitely have a lot of pressure on their shoulders, as they’ll look to build on last year’s success by winning back-to-back MLS titles.
They will lean on their captain and designated player Nico Lodeiro and they’ll be one of the teams to beat out of the Western Conference. Notably, they have the 6th highest odds to win the trophy despite coming off a championship year, so they’ll have to prove their doubters wrong.
