Argentina defeated Honduras 2-0 in an international friendly before the 2026 World Cup with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Giuliano Simeone. Lionel Scaloni’s side controlled the match from the opening minutes, creating the best chances and limiting Honduras to very few opportunities throughout the night.
Argentina took the lead before halftime when Lautaro Martinez calmly converted a penalty after Nicolas Tagliafico was brought down inside the box. The hosts continued to dominate possession and nearly extended their advantage on several occasions through Giovanni Lo Celso, Giuliano Simeone and Thiago Almada.
In the second half, Argentina sealed the victory with a brilliant team move finished by Giuliano Simeone after an excellent backheel assist from Lautaro Martinez. Honduras remained organized defensively, but Argentina comfortably managed the game and closed out a convincing 2-0 win in College Station.
