The Euro 2020 had to be halted last year amid the sudden outbreak of the Covid-19. Fortunately for the soccer community, the European greatest national team tournament will finally take place in a couple of months in a very special edition of UEFA‘s traditional contest.
Despite being played a year later than expected, the competition keeps its original name to celebrate its 60th anniversary. The Old Continent‘s biggest prize will be up for grabs once again five yearsafter Portugal claimed its first major honor ever.
Needless to say, everyone will try to dethrone them in the upcoming edition. As the tournament is getting closer, it’s time to take a look at the Euro 2020 complete schedule, format, teams, groups, key dates, and how to watch it in the US.
Euro 2020Format
The 16th edition of Europe’s top national team contest will involve 24 countries, who earned their spot from the Euro Qualifiers and the UEFA Nations League. Teams will bedivided into six groups of four sides each. As there will be twelve different cities hosting the tournament, two will be assigned to each group.
16 sides will advance from the group stage to the knockout stage: the top two in each zone and the four best third-place teamswill secure a place in the following stage. Every game in the knockout stage will consist of a single match.

The Euro 2020 will kick off onJune 11 with the game between Turkey and Italy at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, and it will end on Sunday, July 11, with the grand final to be played at Wembley Stadium in London.
