Pumas UNAM secured a dramatic 3-3 draw against Club America in the second leg of the Liga MX 2026 Clausura quarterfinals at Estadio Olimpico Universitario. Ruben Duarte, Jordan Carrillo and Juninho scored for the home side, while Alex Zendejas struck twice and Erick Sanchez added another for Club America in a high-intensity Clasico Capitalino. The result sends Pumas through to the semifinals thanks to their superior position in the standings.
The first half saw Pumas take control early, building a strong 3-1 lead through quick transitions and set pieces. Club America responded before halftime with a penalty and increased pressure, leveling the rhythm of the match and shifting momentum. Both teams created clear chances in a chaotic and physical opening 45 minutes.
In the second half, America pushed aggressively for the equalizer and eventually found it through Zendejas, keeping the tie alive until the final whistle. Pumas UNAM managed key defensive moments late on, including a crucial penalty save by Keylor Navas. Despite the 3-3 result, Pumas UNAM advance to the semifinals under the competition rules.
