The long-awaited confrontation between Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez, a duel that has captured the imagination of boxing fans around the world, has escalated to a new level of intensity. Instead of negotiations and agreements, the two fighters have exchanged harsh words, generating an atmosphere of palpable tension. Alvarez, the iconic Mexican boxer, has launched a direct attack on Benavidez, questioning his career and attitude, and minimizing his achievements in the sport.
David Benavidez, with an undefeated record of 30 wins and 24 knockouts, is coming off a standout victory over David Morrell in February. However, despite his impressive record, the highly anticipated fight against Canelo Alvarez has not materialized.
Benavidez has publicly accused Alvarez of avoiding the confrontation, which has provoked a forceful response from the champion. Alvarez, with a record of 62 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws, and 39 knockouts, and considered a boxing legend, has lashed out at Benavidez, calling him “disrespectful” and downplaying his achievements.
In an interview with FightHype, Alvarez expressed his frustration and disdain towards Benavidez: “I don’t know how to answer this question, but with the way he talks, he thinks he’s Superman. He’s very disrespectful, not just with me but with everybody, and he’s accomplished nothing. And he’s not even a champion. He’s not even in my weight class [168 anymore].”

Álvarez continued to defend his own legacy and career, stating: “There’s a lot of things there that doesn’t make sense, and plus, at this point in my career, I can do whatever I want. You guys can’t take anything away from my career and my legacy for anything. If you see my resume, I fought everybody out there, all the elite fighters out there. I’m very good with my resume.”
