NCAAB News: UConn HC Dan Hurley makes something clear with 5-word confession about Knicks vacant head coaching job

Shortly after the New York Knicks moved on from head coach Tom Thibodeau, UConn Huskies bench boss Dan Hurley delivered a vivid, five-word admission on the job opening.

The UConn Huskies are coming off a disappointing college basketball season in which they lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, falling short of the three-peat. However, Dan Hurley is already excited for the future, and he made it clear with a powerful five-word comment about the head coach opening on the New York Knicks.

After reaching the Eastern Conference Final for the first time in 25 years, the Knicks were dominated by the Indiana Pacers, who knocked them out in 6 games. The heartbreaking elimination led to urgent measures, as Tom Thibodeau was fired from his job, despite putting up incredible regular seasons, and guiding the team in long postseason runs.

Now, there is a vacant seat on the bench at Madison Square Garden, and although there is no shortage of well-suited candidates, Hurley made it clear he is not stepping away from the school in Storrs. ā€œNot another summer of that,ā€ Hurley said about the ongoing buzz linking him to the Big Apple and the Knicks, via Hartford Courant.

Last year, after capturing a second-straight NCAA title with the Huskies, Hurley was sought after by the Los Angeles Lakers, who hoped for him to succeed Darvin Ham, until J.J. Reddick eventually took over, while Hurley stayed in Storrs.

Now, as the Knicks pursue their 32nd head coach in franchise history, they inquired about Hurley, who would stay in the East Coast if he were to take over in Manhattan. However, it’s looking bleak for New York’s aspirations, as Hurley is more interested in chasing UConn’s seventh national championship in men’s college basketball.
