Head coach Josh Heupel, who guided Iamaleava through the team’s most recent Playoff run, shared his thoughts on the situation.

George MacIntyre emerged as the natural first option to replace Iamaleava in the initial tactical setup led by Coach Heupel. While several weeks remain before the start of the season, MacIntyre’s chances of being the starting quarterback in Week 1 appear to be very real.

“Sources: Tennessee is moving on from starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Tennessee coach Josh Heupel informed the team of the decision at a team meeting this morning.
