Luka Doncic has found his stride with the Los Angeles Lakers. At first, many questioned whether he could regain his top form within the team. However, the All-Star guard silenced critics and led the franchise in scoring average this season. Also, he improved his conditioning, which ended concerns about his fitness. Now, with momentum on his side, Luka has started making key offseason decisions to elevate his game even further in the 2025-26 season.

“In the first phase of the long period between the seasons, Doncic dedicated himself to transforming his body in Ljubljana, which includes both guided indoor conditioning and a modified diet. The first physical results are already very clearly visible, and the measurement results are also encouraging,” reported Martin Pavcnik in Sportklub.

Since arriving in Los Angeles, Luka has played in 28 games and adapted quickly emerging as a leader both on and off the court. During that stretch, he averaged 28.2 points per game. Also, the Lakers’ star added 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists, showing his all-around impact. His consistent production highlighted his elite talent and top-level physical conditioning.

Besides, Dave McMenamin reported on ESPN that Luka Doncic will play this summer for the Slovenian national team at the 2025 EuroBasket. He plans to stay active during the offseason, which could help maintain his rhythm. To support him, Slovenian strength coach Anze Mazek and physiotherapist Javier Barrio Calvo will be by his side during the tournament.

Following the Lakers’ early playoff exit against the Minnesota Timberwolves, general manager Rob Pelinka confirmed the team will make changes. “One of our primary goals is going to be to add size to our frontcourt at the center positionI think there will be a lot of opportunities for [us] to look at. However, the front office is not only targeting a center. The Lakers’ general manager Pelinka also mentioned plans to improve the defense by adding a defensive wing. With those upgrades, JJ Redick could have a stronger roster in his second season. He already impressed early in his tenure. Now, with more time and different players, the Lakers could contend for the championship and give LeBron James a shot at his fifth ring.

Even though major roster moves are expected, Pelinka expressed strong confidence in the team’s core. He highlighted Austin Reaves, Luka Doncic, and LeBron James as foundational pieces. “I think those three guys have incredible promise playing together. And we will collectively do a better job to make sure they’re surrounded with the right pieces to have ultimate success.”
