The Phoenix Suns are coming off a disappointing season marred by locker room issues and underwhelming results during the regular season. With Kevin Durant already out of the picture, attention has now shifted to Bradley Beal and his uncertain status heading into the upcoming NBA campaign.
According to ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel, “As soon as the Suns decided to move on from and trade Kevin Durant this offseason, their next order of business immediately became Bradley Beal and finding a way to get him off the roster.”
The relationship between Beal and the Suns reportedly soured during the 2024–25 season, and league sources say the front office had been eager to part ways with the veteran guard for months. However, Beal’s no-trade clause and a limited trade market made it difficult for Phoenix to facilitate a deal, resulting in the former All-Star remaining on the roster.
Conversations between Beal and the Suns intensified on Sunday, according to sources, with both parties working to finalize the structure of a contract buyout. The talks came shortly after the Milwaukee Bucks waived and restructured Damian Lillard’s contract to improve their salary cap flexibility—an approach Phoenix now seems poised to replicate with Beal.

Bradley Beal #3 of the Phoenix Suns
As reports of a potential buyout spread rapidly across the league, it became clear that Beal’s time in Phoenix was nearing its end. The 32-year-old is expected to hit the open market soon, giving him the opportunity to choose his next team—likely one with championship aspirations.

NBA rumors: Bradley Beal’s move to Los Angeles Clippers hinges on key factor
While multiple teams have expressed interest, Beal is in no rush to make a decision. The Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers are all reportedly monitoring the situation closely. The Suns are simply awaiting Beal’s signature to finalize the buyout.
Even with various suitors in play, the Los Angeles Clippers are viewed as frontrunners to land Beal should the deal go through. Unless there’s a major shift in negotiations, the Clippers appear well-positioned to secure the veteran’s services.
For the Suns, the potential departure of Beal marks yet another major roster shake-up in a turbulent NBA offseason. With both Durant and Beal likely gone, Phoenix now faces a full-scale reset as they look to retool around Devin Booker and a younger core.
