Aaron Rodgers reportedly has a new benchmark to sign with Steelers

Aaron Rodgers continues to keep the NFL world guessing, but a new report suggests there's finally a timeline taking shape. While insiders once pointed to minicamp as the key moment, it now appears the veteran quarterback has his eyes set on a different milestone.

Aaron Rodgers would not be signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers anytime soon, according to a report by Jeff Darlington. The information indicates that although many insiders have tried to set the upcoming mandatory minicamp as the deadline, the actual target to watch is a different one.

“All signs continue to point to Aaron Rodgers eventually joining this team. I say that in part because a lot of the things I’ve heard behind the scenes, but, also publicly and front facing. It means nothing in terms of minicamp. Perhaps, I think the benchmark we should be looking more towards still, at this point, is training camp.”

The Steelers have their mandatory minicamp from June 10 to June 12, but, considering what Darlington mentioned, Rodgers will not reach an agreement by that date. The big question is when the official announcement will come.

When will Aaron Rodgers sign with Steelers?

Aaron Rodgers will likely sign with the Steelers just before the start of training camp. Pittsburgh has already announced that this crucial event will begin on July 23 in Latrobe.

In that way, as is customary for Rodgers, the quarterback would skip all the pre-training activities such as OTAs and minicamps to focus on the big challenge starting in the last week of July.
