Aaron Rodgers was asked at the start of training camp whether the Pittsburgh Steelers have a real chance to win the Super Bowl. The veteran quarterback didn’t hold back and, although he didn’t label them as favorites, he sent a strong message that they’re capable of pulling off a surprise.
“I think most of the 32 teams would probably say something to that accord at this time of the year, but I think that there’s really only 6 to 8 that really have a legitimate chance. Sometimes it’s 10 to 12 and there’s teams that surprise you. I would say on paper, we’re probably one of those 10 to 12.”
Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan have put together a very intriguing team with names like Rodgers, T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, Darius Slay, and Jonnu Smith. The big question is whether they can take the next step after eight years without a playoff win.
Can the Steelers win the Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers?
Aaron Rodgers believes the Steelers can be part of that group of Super Bowl contenders, and when asked how to go from being a team that looks good on paper to becoming a real threat, the quarterback said it all starts in training camp.
“I think it’s coming together in times like these 17 or so practices that we have here. Finding the chemistry and hanging out with each other in the lunchroom and the different times we have. Growing together through our practices. Mike Tomlin wants to practice at the hottest time of the day. It’s interesting (laughs). I love it just because it’s a stressor. We’ll see how guys respond to adversity.”
