Josh Allen has become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Team success remains elusive for the Bills, but the signal-caller is determined to bring a Super Bowl to Buffalo.

Allen’s skill set is unique. He combines strong accuracy with mobility despite his imposing frame, which often makes people mistake him for a pure pocket passer.

Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, expectations for Allen and the Bills are sky-high. Many fans want to see him play, but they may have to wait a little longer.

Sean McDermott revealed that Allen is part of the team’s plans for the Week 2 preseason game against the Bears. Still, it is not fully confirmed whether he will play.

“In Josh’s case, [we’re] really using practice to see where he’s at and how he feels,” HC Sean McDermott said. “And I’m giving him some ownership as well, which I think is important. He knows by now what he needs to be ready.”

The Bills don’t want to risk an injury to their star quarterback in a meaningless preseason contest. Allen may see a few reps, but as a proven veteran, he has nothing to prove in August.

Are the Bills favorites to win the AFC East in 2025?

After the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era ended in New England, the Bills regained control of the AFC East. Buffalo is expected to remain on top, but the race could get tougher this year.

The Dolphins closed out 2024 strong and, if they stay healthy, could be a real threat to the Bills in 2025. The AFC East will be very tough this year.
