A lake effect snow warning has been issued through Thursday at 7 PM (ET), which would affect the Bills’ final days of practice ahead of the big game. However, McDermott made it clear they’re ready to handle this situation.



“I just left the game plan meeting and came in here to discuss that with some of our operations staff, just making sure we’re on top of it,” McDermott said, via Pro Football Talk. “We’ll handle it, I’m confident in that, and the best thing we can do right now is just have great communication around it.”

The Bills at least can celebrate that the forecast doesn’t indicate there will be snow on Sunday, so there would be no need to postpone the game like it happened against the Steelers. But things haven’t been easy so far, especially on the offensive side of the ball. The Bills average less than 20 points in their last three games, scoring only 10 first-half points in those matches combined.

So, just overall, we’ve got to find the answers there.”

With Frazier taking a year off from football, McDermott could take over the defensive playcalling duties in 2023. According to&nbsp;WIVB sports director Josh Reed, it's the most likely scenario for the team: 
"Bills head coach Sean McDermott is leaning heavily toward calling plays on defense this season. At the combine, I spoke with multiple people around the league who say they would be very surprised if that&rsquo;s not the case." 
It would make sense since McDermott has enough experience to handle the defense, though adding an&nbsp;extra responsability to the many tasks he already has&nbsp;will certainly be a challenge.

Even though they've done enough to strengthen themselves in their division, none of their efforts have&nbsp;so far been enough to make it to the&nbsp;<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/ringless-nfl-teams-that-havent-won-a-super-bowl-yet-20220128-0018.html" target="_blank">Super Bowl</a>. 
Last season was particularly disappointing for Buffalo, who failed to reach the AFC Championship game for the second straight year. Despite being one of the strongest contenders at the beginning of the season, they were eliminated by Joe Burrow's Bengals in the divisional round.

The Bills announced Tuesday that Leslie Frazier will no longer be the team's defensive coordinator in 2023 as he's taking a year off from coaching. It's certainly a huge blow for Buffalo, since Frazier managed to form one of the toughest defenses in the league. 
Having joined the Bills in 2017&nbsp;&mdash; when McDermott also took the head coaching job&nbsp;&mdash; Frazier led a defense that ranked top five in the NFL in&nbsp;six seasons: first in yards allowed per game (315), third in points allowed per game (20), and second in turnovers (99 INTs, 158 takeaways). 
The Bills had already <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/NFL-News-Bills-make-first-change-around-HC-Sean-McDermott-after-playoff-exit-20230126-0016.html" target="_blank">moved pieces</a> in the coaching staff, but this is probably the biggest change for next season. In the meantime, they hired Al Holcomb as senior defensive assistant.

Holcomb knows McDermott from their time together in Carolina, where Holcomb was still working before taking this job&mdash;he served as the Panthers' interim defensive coordinator and assistant head coach with Steve Wilks. 
The Bills' previous change in the coaching staff was at safeties coach, bringing in Joe Danna shortly after fifiring Jim Salgado. Whether these changes are the answer to the Bills' problems remains to be seen. But at least something is changing in Buffalo.

Though the Bills finished with a 13-3 record and McDermott got nominated for Coach of the Year, this is one of the areas where the team can aspire to improve. In his season-ending press conference, head coach Sean McDermott suggested that&rsquo;s the only way the Bills can finally improve. The coaching staff, players, and even the front office all need to improve.

&ldquo;I&rsquo;m a big believer in you are who you are in the last game of the season, in terms of what you saw on the field,&rdquo; McDermott said, via ProFootballTalk. &ldquo;And that&rsquo;s what you have to address. So obviously, we weren&rsquo;t good enough yesterday, and we need to address those areas and do what&rsquo;s necessary to get this organization to the Super Bowl. 
&ldquo;And then you look at the quarterback play, and I thought, we&rsquo;ve got a quarterback that we feel really good about and should feel good about. But we all, myself included, Josh [Allen], and the leaders of this football team, we all have to improve in certain areas to move this organization forward. 
&ldquo;We won&rsquo;t stop until we get there,&rdquo; McDermott added. &ldquo;And that&rsquo;s the vision moving forward, and we&rsquo;re all frustrated on a day after loss in the division round, that&rsquo;s for sure. Extremely proud of how far this organization has come, but not satisfied.&rdquo; 
It&rsquo;s a shame that the Bills continue to fall short after making such an improvement in the last few years, ending the Patriots&rsquo; dominance in the division. They have many tools to dream big, but they haven&rsquo;t been enough to make history so far. Now it&rsquo;s time to be patient, but Buffalo will have a chance to come back.
