There are a couple of NFL teams having quarterback battles during the training camps. The Indianapolis Colts are one of them. However, it seems that the team might be ready to choose between newly-arrived Daniel Jones and young prospect Anthony Richardson.
There is still plenty of time for the team to pick one. However, itās a case of āthe sooner, the betterā. Well, after two days of training camp, reports say that the Colts are not happy with Richardson as he is āfar from flawless.ā He has made plenty of mistakes and his accuracy is still an issue.
As for Daniel Jones, while he hasnāt been a brilliant quarterback, reports say his efficiency is way better, completing more passes. However, the one criticism is he doesnāt āpush the ball downfield much.ā It seems like Jones is trying to avoid mistakes and playing it safe, while Richardson canāt even make it a fight.
Jones is a more polished quarterback
While āDanny Dimesā is not going to be an MVP candidate, he is more of an NFL-proven talent than Richardson. He is going to be a 7-year veteran this season and, while his numbers arenāt great, when compared to Richardson, they are superior.

Daniel Jones, quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts
Completion percentage falls on the side of Jones, as he has 64.1% opposed to Richardsonās 50.6%. Passing yards per game also fall into Jonesā favour, as he averages 208.3 passing yards per game and Richardson is at a mere 159.4. Jonesā passer rate is 84.3 and Richardsonās is 67.8. In fact, the only category where Richardson leads over Jones is yards per carry, but itās almost equal as his is 5.7 and Jonesā is 5.5. Simply put, Richardson is not on Jonesā level.

The Colts QB will have good weapons to work with
The Colts have a sneaky-good receiving corp. Michael Pittman Jr. is a 1,000-yard receiver, Alec Pierce and Josh Downs are more than good role pieces. Downs knows how to produce on the slot and Pierce is a helluva deep threat.
But not only that, they have a great running back in Jonathan Taylor. To add as cherry on top, the Colts drafted the best tight end in the NFL draft in Tyler Warren, from Penn State. Warren is poised to have a big season and become one of the best tight ends in the NFL. Whoever the quarterback is, heāll have quality weapons to work with.
