Aaron Rodgers has been released by the Jets according to a report by Adam Schefter. After this move, the star quarterback is free to make his final decision between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants.

ā€œNow official: Jets are releasing Aaron Rodgers after 4 pm today. The Jets will take on $49M in dead money by releasing Rodgers. He’s being designated as a post-June 1 cut, meaning they’ll carry his $21M cap hit until June 1, when it drops to $14M, saving $7M. But they then will absorb a $35M dead cap hit in 2026.ā€

Although the Vikings were mentioned as a possible destination for the former Super Bowl champion, Tom Pelissero reported that head coach Kevin O’Connell will not sign Rodgers, as the team’s plan is to go with J.J. McCarthy as the starter. Unless something historically surprising happens, Minnesota is not an option for Aaron.

What is the future of Aaron Rodgers?

Aaron Rodgers is the top choice for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their search for a starting quarterback, according to another report by Cameron Wolfe. However, the veteran has yet to respond to the offer.

ā€œAaron Rodgers is their top choice right now. They would love to bring in Aaron Rodgers to lead this offense. I was told that they feel like he is a good fit for Arthur Smith’s scheme. They want to chase a championship and they feel Aaron Rodgers, of all the available options, will give them the best chance of that.ā€
