Aaron Rodgers is unlikely to choose retirement, as he still has things to prove according to a report by Ray Fittipaldo. His disappointing stint with the New York Jets will likely drive the quarterback to seek redemption playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
āI donāt think Rodgers wants to end his career with a bad taste in his mouth from the Jets experience. Two bad seasons, one he was injured. They flew him in there and told him: āWe donāt want you back.ā I think thereās something to prove there. I do think he wants to play. Heās just got these personal issues he has to deal with.ā
The Steelers havenāt won the Super Bowl in 16 years, and for Mike Tomlin at least, Rodgers is the ideal transition to compete in 2025 and then start a long-term project with a quarterback who will likely come from the draft.
Why Aaron Rodgers hasnāt signed with Steelers?
Aaron Rodgers confirmed that he has not signed with the Steelers or any other team due to issues within his inner circle. In an interview with Joe Rogan, the quarterback admitted that people very close to him were battling cancer.
Another possible reason is that Rodgers doesnāt like the early stages of offseason preparation. For that reason, the player might see it as less of a distraction to remain unsigned than to be signed and not show up to practices in Pittsburgh. Mandatory minicamp in June could be a target to get a better sense of his timeline.
