Aaron Rodgers is still considering retirement as a possibility while deciding whether or not he will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to a report from Adam Schefter, the quarterback has not ruled out saying goodbye to football.
âThey both need each other right now. Thatâs if Aaron Rodgers wants to play, which Iâm not convinced yet that he does. Until I hear him say, âI want to play,â then I can tell you people are asking that question about whether he wants to play. Itâs come up. Iâm hearing he might not want to play. Which by the way, again, I donât want to speak for him because I donât want to get called out. Weâre speculating, but, it shouldnât be that hard.â
The former Super Bowl champion is the last big name left in free agency, but a final decision has not yet been made. Itâs important to remember that the reason that might be holding him back is the possibility that the Vikings could call him if J.J. McCarthy doesnât look good in training camp.
Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?
Aaron Rodgers could retire, according to Schefter, if the remaining options donât convince him. In reality, he only has two paths: say âyesâ to the Steelers or wait for Minnesota. For the insider, the difficult part to understand is why he doesnât accept Pittsburghâs offer when itâs already on the table.
âEither you want to play for the Steelers or you donât. Right? What are we waiting for? Whatâs the question? Whatâs the issue? They want you. You donât want them? Clearly, you have questions. I donât know if thatâs playing for that team, living in that city or playing football. Thereâs something thatâs holding you back.â
