Aaron Rodgers is still considering retirement as a possibility while deciding whether or not he will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to a report from Adam Schefter, the quarterback has not ruled out saying goodbye to football.

“They both need each other right now. That’s if Aaron Rodgers wants to play, which I’m not convinced yet that he does. Until I hear him say, ‘I want to play,’ then I can tell you people are asking that question about whether he wants to play. It’s come up. I’m hearing he might not want to play. Which by the way, again, I don’t want to speak for him because I don’t want to get called out. We’re speculating, but, it shouldn’t be that hard.”

The former Super Bowl champion is the last big name left in free agency, but a final decision has not yet been made. It’s important to remember that the reason that might be holding him back is the possibility that the Vikings could call him if J.J. McCarthy doesn’t look good in training camp.

Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?

Aaron Rodgers could retire, according to Schefter, if the remaining options don’t convince him. In reality, he only has two paths: say ‘yes’ to the Steelers or wait for Minnesota. For the insider, the difficult part to understand is why he doesn’t accept Pittsburgh’s offer when it’s already on the table.

“Either you want to play for the Steelers or you don’t. Right? What are we waiting for? What’s the question? What’s the issue? They want you. You don’t want them? Clearly, you have questions. I don’t know if that’s playing for that team, living in that city or playing football. There’s something that’s holding you back.”
