Aaron Rodgers is still considering retirement as a possibility while deciding whether or not he will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to a report from Adam Schefter, the quarterback has not ruled out saying goodbye to football.
āThey both need each other right now. Thatās if Aaron Rodgers wants to play, which Iām not convinced yet that he does. Until I hear him say, āI want to play,ā then I can tell you people are asking that question about whether he wants to play. Itās come up. Iām hearing he might not want to play. Which by the way, again, I donāt want to speak for him because I donāt want to get called out. Weāre speculating, but, it shouldnāt be that hard.ā
The former Super Bowl champion is the last big name left in free agency, but a final decision has not yet been made. Itās important to remember that the reason that might be holding him back is the possibility that the Vikings could call him if J.J. McCarthy doesnāt look good in training camp.
Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?
Aaron Rodgers could retire, according to Schefter, if the remaining options donāt convince him. In reality, he only has two paths: say āyesā to the Steelers or wait for Minnesota. For the insider, the difficult part to understand is why he doesnāt accept Pittsburghās offer when itās already on the table.
āEither you want to play for the Steelers or you donāt. Right? What are we waiting for? Whatās the question? Whatās the issue? They want you. You donāt want them? Clearly, you have questions. I donāt know if thatās playing for that team, living in that city or playing football. Thereās something thatās holding you back.ā
