NFL News: Aaron Rodgers’ visit to Pittsburgh was reportedly a test for Mike Tomlin and Steelers

Aaron Rodgers' visit to Pittsburgh was more than just a meeting. It was supposedly a real test. The four-time MVP reportedly wanted to gauge Mike Tomlin's leadership and the Steelers' organization before deciding his next move.

Aaron Rodgers had a several-hour visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers as he decides which team he will play for next season. In addition to getting a close look at the facilities and meeting the coaches, a report from Mike Florio indicates that there was another key reason why the quarterback traveled to the city.

ā€œThe development remained tightly under wraps until Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette caught wind of it. After he reported it, others mobilized to confirm the news, because it’s never good enough to trust someone else’s reporting, apparently. The fact that Dulac reported it means someone from the Steelers leaked it. Which could have been a test by Rodgers to see whether the S.S. Rooney has leaks. Indeed, Rodgers has complained in the past about leaks with the Jets.ā€

Now, after leaving Pittsburgh without signing a contract, Rodgers has to analyze where he has the best opportunity to chase a Super Bowl. As of today, only the Steelers and Giants remain in the race, though in the coming months, Aaron still has Minnesota in consideration.

What will be Aaron Rodgers’ next team?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have the edge to become Aaron Rodgers’ next team, but anything can happen. It’s important to remember that just a few weeks ago, the Rams and Vikings were the quarterback’s top priorities, but those doors are now closed.

The New York Giants have also made an offer for Rodgers, but the veteran has not shown interest in playing there. In fact, as a precautionary measure, Brian Daboll’s team has already signed Jameis Winston.
