The quarterback market continues to make headlines ahead of the 2025 NFL season. While the Pittsburgh Steelers continue waiting for Aaron Rodgers, the New York Giants took action by signing Russell Wilson on Tuesday. The Cleveland Browns, meanwhile, have reportedly taken another step towards finding their next signal-caller.
According to CanesInsight.com, the Browns held a private workout with quarterback Cam Ward in Miami on Wednesday morning, with Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com adding that franchise owner Jimmy Haslam, general Andrew Berry, and head coach Kevin Stefanski were all watching.
The Browns held Wilson for a visit less than two weeks ago, but his salary expectations were reportedly too high for the team. Eventually, the 36-year-old landed a two-season deal worth up to $21 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed, with the Giants.
With Wilson no longer a free agent, Rodgers is without any doubt the biggest name still available in the open market. His options, however, appear to be the Steelers or retirement, unless the Minnesota Vikings want him.

Instead of Wilson or Rodgers, NFL Draft could give Browns their next QB1
In this scenario, the Brownsâ best way to add at quarterback may rely on the 2025 NFL Draft. Holders of the second overall pick in April, the teamâs chances of landing Ward depend on what the Tennessee Titans do with the first pick.

If the Titans are open to trading it, the Browns could get whoâs widely seen as the best quarterback from his class. Tennessee, however, reportedly plan to work out Ward privately as well.
After transferring from Washington State, Ward shone for the Miami Hurricanes in 2024, completing 67.2 percent of his passes for 4,313 yards with 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Additionally, he showed his ability as a dual-threat QB by rushing for 204 yards with four scores.
