Aaron Rodgers might still not be ruled out as an option for the Giants despite his recent visit to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was insider Jeremy Fowler’s response when asked if the Jameis Winston signing precluded New York from signing Russell Wilson.

“Or Aaron Rodgers actually I was told. They’re still not totally out of it on Rodgers. They are not the favorite and they kind of know it. I think the Giants are getting a little impatient, but, still in the mix.”

Undoubtedly, Rodgers has been the biggest story of NFL free agency. His priority was the Rams at some point, then the Minnesota Vikings, but those two options are no longer available.

Is Aaron Rodgers a free agent?

Yes. Aaron Rodgers is a free agent, so even though he visited the Pittsburgh Steelers, he can still sign with the Giants or any other team. New York seems like a long shot, although Fowler hasn’t ruled it out yet, even with the arrival of Jameis Winston.

“The Giants feel like they at least have a bridge option (Winston). I’m told this doesn’t necessarily take Aaron Rodgers out of the equation, but it’s the belief league wide that the Giants have been in that sort of number two seat for Rodgers all along and Pittsburgh has been the focus. They are still in the mix there as a potential option.”
