One of the many stories of the 2025 NFL offseason is the contract situation of linebacker Micah Parsons with the Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones is leading the negotiations, and recent updates have revealed some less-than-optimistic news about the status of the case.

Parsons is in the final season of his rookie contract. For about a year, Jones and he have been the focal points of a storyline surrounding the renewal, creating a narrative of conflicting rumors that continues to this day.

Recently, Terrence Parsons, Micah’s brother, sparked speculation by posting on social media about possible progress in negotiations with the Cowboys. However, NFL insider Jane Slater debunked that rumor by posting a new update on her X (formerly Twitter) account.

The latest update on the negotiations between the Cowboys and Parsons

“As things stand with Micah Parsons. No new news. What I can tell is Jerry (Jones) and Micah (Parsons) have talked many times this offseason but to say a contract offer has been extended to his representatives would be inaccurate. I’m told there was an initial meeting at combine with his team but since then nothing meaningful to report. His team remains ready to talk when Dallas does,” Slater reported.

The information is clear. Despite speculation, no offer has been made to Parsons by Jones. It was expected that the Dallas franchise would extend his contract during the offseason, but so far, fans will have to keep waiting for an agreement.

Parsons’ situation with the Cowboys

In 2024, the Cowboys exercised Parsons’ fifth-year option. This decision led to the postponement of contract negotiations until now. Additionally, the costs have risen due to new salary standards for players in Parsons’ position. Dallas will need to act quickly to secure the continuity of one of its most valuable players before his value increases even further.
