Jordan Love is gearing up for a pivotal 2025 NFL season following a 2024 campaign filled with ups and downs. The Green Bay Packers quarterback faced several challenges, including injuries that limited both his performance and time on the field. In response, and recognizing the importance of fully supporting his star player, head coach Matt LaFleur has stressed the need for Love to step up as a more vocal leader.

With a lucrative contract extension, expectations for Love are high—not just on the field, but also from an organizational standpoint. He’s expected to show strong leadership and deliver a high level of play to help return the franchise to the spotlight.

LaFleur’s Packers continue to strengthen their wide receiver room to give Love more options on offense. However, they know that’s not enough. In Green Bay, they’re rolling up their sleeves to ensure that replacing an era like Aaron Rodgers’ doesn’t become an overwhelming challenge.

The Packers’ plan to get the best out of QB Love

Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion has taken on the challenge of maximizing Jordan Love’s potential as he prepares for his sixth NFL season and his third position coach. “I think it’s about owning our progressions, the timing, and the footwork in our reads,” Mannion said of his starting quarterback, via the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

“And then just the fundamentals of the position. For me, it really starts with footwork. That’s something that all quarterbacks need to focus on, but I know really when I first was exposed to it was with Matt in L.A. in 2017. It was kind of a foundational moment in my playing career. I got so much better from understanding how the footwork helps your accuracy; it helps your decision making; it helps the timing of the play,” Mannion said.
