Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are very close to a critical stage regarding Aaron Rodgers and his future. According to a report by Albert Breer, the upcoming mandatory minicamp is a key date for both sides.
âThereâs an important checkpoint coming up, at least from the Steelersâ standpoint. Thatâs the veteran minicamp. I think weâre entering a critical stage. Weâre not at the critical date yet, but weâre entering a critical stage. I do think Mike Tomlin, Arthur Smith, Omar Khan, it would be beneficial for all those guys to have him there for that. So, at least they kind of create a baseline heading into the summer.â
The mandatory minicamp Breer is referring to runs from June 10 to June 12. If Rodgers doesnât join the team by that date, the situation could extend until training camp, which begins in the final days of July.
Aaron Rodgers hasnât signed with Steelers
Aaron Rodgers has publicly stated that the reason he hasnât signed with a team is due to personal issues within his inner circle. However, many experts point to another key factor.
For most of his career, Rodgers has not liked participating in OTAs or mandatory minicamps. In fact, a trip to Egypt during those dates sparked major controversy with the Jets. That could be another reason for the delay.
