The New York Giants are at a crossroads regarding their future at quarterback. Despite adding veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, the NFL Draft is approaching and the names of two quarterbacks who could make the team are on the horizon.
Wilson is looking for a starting spot to prove what he couldnât do with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It looked like the Big Apple was that coveted spot, but he will most likely have even more competition. Despite general manager Joe Schoenâs statement that selecting a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft is not an immediate priority, reality dictates otherwise.
The Giants are open to all possibilities with their No. 3 overall pick in the draft and do not want to waste the value of that selection. For this reason, although multiple positions are being evaluated, the New York franchise has scheduled workouts that reveal a clear interest in two quarterbacks with the potential to become stars.
The two quarterbacks who are wanted by the Giants
The Giants have made the decision to go after a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, considering quarterbacks Jalen Milroe (Alabama) and Tyler Shough (Louisville) as possible selections. Both players have been invited to private workouts, indicating the teamâs clear interest.

Jalen Milroe #QB11 of Alabama participates in a drill during the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 01, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Milroe is known for his athleticism and ability as a deep passer, although he has shown inconsistencies in his accuracy and decision-making. On the other hand, Shough brings experience and stability, having played in several college programs and demonstrating solid mechanics. The choice between the two presents a dilemma for the Giants, who must balance long-term potential with the need for immediate results.

Wilson and Winston would be temporary options for the Giants
If the Giants select Milroe, Shough, or any other quarterback, it would signal that both Wilson and Winston are viewed as temporary options. The urgency to find a young, promising playmaker aligns with the teamâs vision of building a core group of players with the potential to establish themselves in the leagueâjust like wide receiver Malik Nabers.
