Alvin Kamara will be the main star for the New Orleans Saints as the franchise looks to improve on its performance from the 2024 NFL season, when the playoffs were far out of reach. To boost their chances on the field, the team has now added a new player whose last stint was with the Minnesota Vikings alongside quarterback Sam Darnold.
The Vikings were one of the more consistent teams during the past regular season, putting Darnold back in the NFL spotlight. While the veteran quarterback has since left Minnesota, he helped elevate some key weapons, one of whom is now joining the Saints in the coming hours.
This new addition adds depth to a backfield that already features offensive talents like Kamara, Kendre Miller, and Devin Neal. The Saints are aiming to strengthen the competition in a unit seeking stability heading into the 2025 season. To do so, they turned their attention to a former Viking.
Who is the Saints’ newest offensive player?
The new running back joining the Saints is none other than Cam Akers, who signed a one-year deal after being evaluated during the team’s mandatory minicamp in June. The New Orleans front office decided to bring him in after reviewing his performance up close.
