NFL News: Two veteran quarterbacks emerge as options for Steelers if Aaron Rodgers doesn’t sign with Pittsburgh

Joe Flacco and Carson Wentz could be options for Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers if Aaron Rodgers rejects their offer, according to a report by Dan Graziano. Additionally, they will look for a quarterback in the draft.

“If Aaron Rodgers tells them ‘no’, then they go to what: Joe Flacco or Carson Wentz? Those are probably the top two free agents still out there. So, if they lose Carson Wentz while they’re waiting around for Aaron Rodgers, that’s not going to make or break their season. I think they’ll go to whatever option is that’s out there. If they don’t think any of them are better than Mason Rudolph, then they don’t have to do it.”

A previous report by Adam Schefter confirmed that the Steelers pursued Super Bowl champion Matthew Stafford and later Justin Fields. Now, the priority is Rodgers, but there is still no response from the star player.

Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph are the names leading the list as potential starting quarterbacks for the Steelers. Additionally, the team is prioritizing a big name for that position in 2025 or 2026.

Graziano agrees with that theory. “I do think the Steelers will address that position in the draft. They’ll try to do it early because they know they have to get this figured out for the long term.”
