The Green Bay Packersā recent NFL campaigns may not have ended with the expected results, and many began to suggest that a dip in Jordan Loveās performance was partly to blame. However, Matt LaFleur made it clear that this is not the case, expressing his confidence that the team can improve heading into the upcoming season.
While itās well known that this team faces tough competition within the NFC North, the reality is that the talented quarterback saw a decline in his stats, partly due to injuries that forced him to miss some games. For now, this is the narrative LaFleur stands by in the face of criticism.
During a recent conversation with the media, the head coach came to the defense of his on-field leader, voicing his support for Love and expressing confidence in starting the season strong from Week 1.
āI think thereās like a narrative out there for whatever reason that he wasnāt as productive as the year before,ā LaFleur said, via The Athletic. āWell, he missed significant time. He missed the better of three games. Really, it was Indy. It was Tennessee. He went out in Jacksonville and then he went out in Chicago.

Head coach Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers celebrates with Jordan Love #10 after a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks during the first quarter of the game at Lumen Field on December 15, 2024 in Seattle, Washington.
āSo, you know, three games is a significant amount of time and youāre not going to produce as much from a numbers perspective ⦠and also, letās be honest ā weāve talked about this ā we did have a lot of drops last year. So thereās other circumstances that play into it. I think all in all, everybodyās going to be better, though.ā

Love focused on team goals
Far from distancing himself from the criticism surrounding the Packersā performances in past seasons, Jordan Love told the media that heās not focused solely on his personal stats, but rather on achieving team goals alongside his teammates.
āI mean, what is a step back is what Iād ask?ā Love said. āYou know what I mean? Everybody has different opinions, things like that. You gotta block that stuff out. Itās all about the goals of the team at the end of the day. Iād say we won more games than we did the year before. Thatās why I ask people, what is a step back?
āLike I said, everybody has opinions, things like that. Try to block that out and focus on doing me and being the best player I can be, like Iāve talked about, and go forward. But at the end of the day, personal stats, things like that, thatās all in the back. You gotta focus on the goals of the team, first and foremost.ā
