The Carolina Panthers want to become a team that contends to be in the NFL playoffs. For that to happen, Bryce Young has to establish himself as a starting-caliber quarterback in the league. Therefore, is crucial for the team that the weapons he has at his disposal are more than prepared to ball out.
Head coach Dave Canales made great things as an offensive coordinator, but in his first year as a head coach, his offense wasn’t as brilliant. That’s why the Panthers made lowkey great moves to help improve that unit and one name in particular has stood out.
Hunter Renfrow signed with the Panthers after not playing in 2024 due to an ulcerative colitis. Despite all the setbacks, Renfrow has impressed in training camp. Coach Canales said via the team’s website, “he’s really playing at top form right now. I’m really excited to have him here and to have his family, which is right down the road here after this practice to be able to just connect with him.”
A healthy Renfrow is a problem for the NFL
When Renfrow is healthy, he is a weapon to fear in the NFL. While not the most dominant, fastest or tallest player, Renfrow’s route running, safe hands and football IQ set him apart. Plus, Renfrow is only 29 years old, he is still able to go at a high level if injuries respect him.

Hunter Renfrow #13 of the Las Vegas Raiders catches a pass in warm-ups before a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on August 26, 2023 in Arlington, Texas.
His last good season came in 2021, where he racked up 1,038 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also went to the Pro Bowl that year. Unfortunately, he missed 7 games in 2022 due to injury and wasn’t a part of the Raiders’ scheme in 2023. However, Renfrow is a proven assett under the right context and head coach Dave Canales will make sure he is utilized properly.

The Panthers have a sneaky good offense
When you look at the Panthers’ offensive roster, you can’t deny there is plenty of talent to go around. It’s actually exciting to see this team give Bryce Young a chance to prove himself. Besides Renfrow, who will add experience, route running, safe hands and versatility, the Panthers have lots of potential greatness on the receiving room.
Adam Thielen is one of the best slots receivers in the NFL, also bringing incredible routes but also a huge ability to catch the football. First-round pick Tetairoa McMillan is tasked with being a difference-maker down the field, he is regarded as the best receiver in the 2025 class. Also, 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette should take a leap as the physical, outside of the numbers threat. This is a very good offensive roster, without a doubt.
