In a tension-filled contest that stretched into overtime, Tyler Seguin delivered the decisive blow for the Dallas Stars, scoring the game-winning goal at 5:31 of the extra period to secure a dramatic 2–1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3 of their Western Conference Semifinal series.

Seguin’s moment of brilliance came off a slick pass from Mason Marchment. With composure and skill, Seguin controlled the puck with his skate near the right circle, transitioned it smoothly to his stick, and fired a precise wrist shot past Mackenzie Blackwood at the near post—igniting celebrations on the Stars’ bench.

The victory was underscored by a clutch penalty kill just minutes before Seguin’s heroics. Dallas had to fend off a four-minute Avalanche power play after Marchment was handed a double minor for high sticking late in the third period. Their defensive resolve during that critical stretch helped set the stage for the game-winner.

Seguin reflects on the goal and the team effort

After the game, Seguin emphasized the instinctive nature of his overtime goal and the collective effort behind the win: “I wanted to one-time it. It was off, a little inside, and my subconscious was go low glove,” Seguin explained according to NHL.com. “You think about OT winners and how important they are, but there was just so much more tonight than that goal—it was the penalty kill, the details of the game, and what the guys did.”

Praise for Mikko Rantanen’s shift

Seguin also acknowledged the contribution of Mikko Rantanen, whose efforts during the previous shift helped create the opportunity: It’s Mikko Rantanen on that shift before I scored—battling off three guys and changing for me. I was just the beneficiary of it. Collectively, just a great road win by the guys.”
