The 2020 season will be the sixth for the New York City Football Club in the MLS and a new opportunity for the team to clinch its first MLS Cup trophy. The Group Stage schedule have been released and the NYCFC will compete in Group A, along with Orlando City SC, Inter Miami FC, and Philadelphia Union.

The MLS is Back tournament is a new World Cup-style format competition to finish the season in just four weeks. NYCFC and Philadelphia Union are two of the group favorites to qualify for the Round of 16. However, they will face each other in their first game.

The match between NYCFC and Philadelphia Union will be played on Wednesday, July 9, in which could be one of the most attactive games of the group. New York City FC next encounter will be against Orlando City SC on Tuesday, July 14, while their last Group A match will be vs. Inter Miami CF on Monday, July 20.

The team is confident of qualifying for the Knockout Stage and pursue their first MLS Cup trophy. If NYCFC ends first or second place in Group A, they will play their Round 16 game on Saturday, July 25.

All 26 teams will be playing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Walt Disney World Resort, Florida with a day-long schedule that'll have teams divided into six groups. The knockout stage will feature a round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and obviously, a grand final. All outcomes will settle after 90 minutes and tied games will go straight to a penalty shootout, with no extra time.
