La Liga is the greatest soccer competition in Spain and one of the most prestigious leagues in the world. Since its inception in the 1928-1929 season, it has only been halted three times.

Barcelona and Real Madridprobably are thefirst teams to come up to mind when thinking about Spanish soccer, and even though they have ruled most of the time, there have been some other league champions you might not know about.

With Atletico Madrid as the main challenger to the Blaugranas and the Merengues’ dominance, nineteamswere able to put their hands on the highly desired trophy. Here, check out the all-time La Liga champions.

The Spanish first division has a great tradition in European soccer and is among the continent’s top-five leagues. Historic players and teams have provided the league a high status that will remain forever, and only a handful of teams had the honor of tasting local glory.

Real Madrid are La Liga kings, as they were crowned 34 times, whileBarcelona are a bit behind as they have lifted 26 domestic league trophies. Atletico Madrid stand far from such an amount of titles, as they hold 11 so far.

The list ain’t much longer, as we have Athletic Bilbao with eight, as they were a force in the early years of the tournament, while Valencia have six, and Real Sociedad with two. Moreover, Sevilla, Deportivo La Coruña, and Betis, have won the Spanish league title once each. This is how the full list of La Liga champions looks like:
