The last time that these teams met was in the group stage of Copa Libertadores 2016. That day, Gremio won 3-2 in a dramatic match. In fact, LDU Quito and Gremio have faced each other four times, with three victories for the Brazilian team and only one for LDU Quito. 

This time, both teams arrive into the match with a new manager. Also, Gremio is traveling without some important players such as Rafinha, Ferreira, Victor Bosbin, Brenno and Matheus Henrique. The last two are part of Brazil’s squad for the Olympic Games.
