The hosts head to this game with one point under their belt, while the Argentine side was defeated last week. Liga de Quito return home after a hard-fought draw in Chile. The Ecuadorian giants remain unbeaten in the domestic league, although they’ve tied six out of nine matches so far. However, the one-time Libertadores champions are well-known for strengthening themselves at home.

The high altitude in Quito has constantly been an issue for visitors, while the hosts learned to take advantage of it to build a fortress in the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium. Their next opponents need to recover, but this one isn’t the easiest match to do so.

Vélez Sarsfield played their first game in this tournament after a seven-year absence against a powerful team like Flamengo last week. Despite they began at the lead with two early goals in the first half, the Brazilians turned things around and left the Argentines empty-handed.
