Jose Mourinho is living his first months at the helm of AS Roma but he may have noticed that his team needs improvement. The Serie A side has made a number of signings in the summer, but that wouldn't be enough for The Special One.

Roma bagged nearly €100m in the last transfer window by landing six new faces, including the likes of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea, Rui Patricio from Wolves, and Matias Viña from 2020 Copa Libertadores winners Palmeiras.

However, the team's struggles at the beginning of the 2021-22, falling to Lazio and Juventus, proved that Roma still have work to do to get back into Champions League soccer. And Mourinho looks interested in landing a Real Madrid player come January.

€20m-rated Real Madrid player reportedly on the radar of Mourinho's AS Roma

Jose Mourinho isn't taking his new challenge at the Italian capital lightly as he wants to build a competitive side that can get back to European prominence. And, according to El Nacional, Mou wants to land Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old playmaker could provide Roma the creativity they need in the middle of the park, with the Portuguese manager reportedly seeing in him a great target to boost his starting lineup. Ceballos, meanwhile, would be open to leave Madrid.

After two seasons on loan at Arsenal, he was ready to leave Los Blancos to join Real Betis, but the deal fell apart when he picked up an ankle injury in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The report claims Betis wouldn't afford the €20m asking price after his injury, paving the way for Roma, as Mourinho believes he could be key for his team.
