The Argentine league is one of the most passionatecompetitions on earth and the Superclasico one of the biggest derbies in world soccer. River Plate and Boca Juniors always take the limelight whenever they clash and they’ll do so again this weekend.

On Sunday, El Millonario and the Xeneize will meet at the Estadio Monumental on Matchday 14 of the 2021 Liga Profesional in a highly anticipated encounter that will see supporters back into stadiums for the first time in more than a year.

River vs. Boca: Head-to-Head of the Superclasico

Needless to say, these lifelong rivals have faced off since their very first years of existence and have built an unmatched rivalry in the country and probably in the continent. But who has the edge in the all-time series?

Well, in Argentina, the all-time record has been often divided into amateur and professional era, being the latter one who was usually taken as the valid one. If we only take into account the Superclasico games in the professional times, Boca have won on 74 occasions, while River did it 65 matches, and they drew in 63 games.

However, if we consider the amateur and professional years combined, these two played 211 matches against each other, with Boca Juniors emerging victorious in 77 affairs, while River Plate won 69 duels, and they shared the points in 65 encounters.
