Matchday 5 of the South American 2022 World Cup Qualifiers had to be postponed last year due to the pandemic outbreak. That's why it will be played now as part of a triple-fixture in October, with Venezuela and Ecuador head-to-head for the first time in the road to Qatar 2022. The match will be broadcast in the US by FuboTV.

La Vinotinto aren't going through an easy atmosphere as they are bottom of the standings and the national soccer federation has dealt with multiple issues over the last few years. They were about to shock Brazil, but La Canarinha came from behind to win 3-1.

La Tri, on the other hand, are living a fantastic moment in the Conmebol World Cup Qualifiers as they are third on the table, just three points shy of Argentina. Ecuador want to make it consecutive wins after beating Bolivia.

Venezuela confirmed lineup

La Vinotinto came up short against Brazil and were unable to claim a much-needed, historic triumph. Other bad news for them was that Josua Mejias, Jose 'Brujo' Martinez, and Tomas Rincon all got hurt.

Leo Gonzalez, however, decided to line up Rincon anyway. Also, this time Wuilker Fariñez will return to the eleven. Here is Venezuela lineup: Fariñez; Hernandez, Ferraresi, Martínez, O. Gonzalez; Tomás Rincón, José Martínez; Darwin Machís, E. Bello, Peñaranda; E. Ramírez.

Ecuador confirmed starting XI

Gustavo Alfaro, meanwhile, had to replace Byron Castillo, who got injured in La Tri's comfortable victory over Bolivia. Angelo Preciado will be in the lineup but Alfaro went for a defense of three men.

This is how Ecuador will line up to face Venezuela on Matchday 5 of the South American World Cup Qualifiers: Moises Ramirez; R. Arboleda, F. Torres, P. Hincapie; Angelo Preciado, C. Gruezo, M. Caicedo, P. Estupiñan; Gonzalo Plata, Enner Valencia, Angel Mena.
