<p>After a remarkable high school career, Carmelo Anthony’s son, <strong>Kiyan Anthony</strong>, is set to start his collegiate journey with the Syracuse Orange, the same program his father represented and led to the 2003 national <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> championship.</p>



<p>Anthony has made noise for a minute. His performances at<strong> Long Island Lutheran High School (New York) </strong>turned a lot of heads and made top schools such as Ohio State, USC, Auburn, and Florida State, among others, show interest in the shooting guard.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The No. 36 player on ESPN’s 100 list committed to Syracuse to continue to build on his father’s legacy. While he prepares for his freshman season, Kiyan continues to <strong>make moves off the court</strong>, as he recently added another notable company to his list of NIL deals.</p>



<h2>Kiyan Anthony signs NIL deal with denim brand&nbsp;</h2>



<p>On Friday, Kiyan Anthony shared a series of pictures on his Instagram profile to announce he was joining the<strong> American Eagle </strong>lineup. He wore a white T-shirt with brown trousers and white sneakers, and then added a denim hoodie over the shirt.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is another major addition to Anthony’s NIL deals, which also include <strong>One Way Clothing, PSD Underwear, Nerf, and the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation</strong>. According to On3, his deals are valued at around $1.1 million.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Anthony is one of the best 40 players of his class, and the next step in his journey could take his game to the next level. He still has a lot of room for improvement, but the kid is o<strong>n the right track to make it to the NBA.</strong></p>

<p>The <strong>NBA is like a big fraternity</strong>. Most of the players have been playing with and against one another since their high school days. Most of the players are actually pretty good friends.</p>



<p>That’s why Kiyan Anthony can get some decent pointers ahead of his freshman year at Syracuse. He’s close friends with<strong> VJ Edgecombe</strong>, and he will certainly have some pieces of advice to give him after his days at Baylor.</p>



<p>Most people don’t know that Anthony and Edgecombe were actually roommates in high school, and the future<strong> Philadelphia 76ers</strong> draft pick actually took him under his wing.</p>



<h2>Kiyan Anthony and VJ Edgecombe have been close for years </h2>



<p>“<strong><em>I mean for two years, that [VJ Edgecombe] was my roommate, so basically one of my closest friends, seeing him every day, staying with him every night, you know, being in the same room.” </em></strong>Kiyan said, per Essentially Sports, <em>“I just learned everything, like from how he approaches the game; you know how he wakes up every morning and how he eats. So, I learned from that, and now I am trying to apply that to myself, plus of what I already have from my dad.”</em></p>

<p>Edgecombe now looks like a star in the making, while Anthony will still have to spend<strong> at least one year in college</strong> before taking his talents to the pros, just like his old man did.</p>



<p>It’ll be interesting to see how both of their careers pan out and who does better once it’s all said and done. More than that, <strong>they will certainly star in some epic battles. </strong></p>

<p><strong>Kiyan Anthony</strong> is preparing for his first <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> season with the Syracuse Orange, the same program his father led to a national championship in 2003. Anthony, 18, is ranked 36th on the ESPN 100 list for the 2025 class.</p>



<p>His parents have supported him every step of the way, <strong>but they have also had a good laugh at the expense of the freshman.&nbsp;</strong></p>



<p>It’s common to see both <strong>Carmelo and La La Anthony hype up their kid on social media, but there’s a </strong>part of it that the player doesn’t really enjoy. Talking with PEOPLE about an episode of Instagram’s “Close Friends Only” podcast, Kiyan Anthony revealed how his parents “embarrass” him.</p>

<p><em><strong>“Oh, they still do [embarrass me.] They post a lot of videos that I don’t want them to post,”</strong></em> he said.&nbsp;“But it’s all good. It’s all jokes,” he continued. “They see me more than anybody, so they got all the funny videos of me, and sometimes they like to troll and post it.”</p>

<p>His highlights have made the rounds on social media, and both Carmelo and&nbsp;La La have <strong>given him his flowers. </strong>On the other end, they also enjoy teasing the freshman whenever they have the chance.&nbsp;</p>



<h2>Kiyan Anthony starts a new chapter in his basketball journey in Syracuse&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Kiyan Anthony is a five-star prospect from Long Island Lutheran High School. He averaged<strong> 10.3 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.3 rebounds </strong>in his final campaign, in which he led the Crusaders to a 21-5 record.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Anthony is following in his father’s footsteps, defending his alma mater 2<strong>2 years later.</strong> He’s one of many second-generation players in college this season, alongside the Boozer twins and Alijah Arenas.</p>

<p><strong>Bronny James</strong> has always been in the spotlight. He was never a highly-touted prospect like his father, but being LeBron James’ son all but guaranteed him a spot in the league.</p>



<p>Of course, that didn’t come without criticism, especially given the way they handled his career. That’s why <strong>Carmelo Anthony’s son</strong>, Kiyan, went out of his way to defend Bronny in the ‘7 PM in Brooklyn’ podcast. </p>



<p><strong><em>“It’s a new generation. Two totally different people even though that might be your kid,” </em></strong>Anthony said. <em>“I felt bad for him cause like, that’s my guy. So, he doesn’t speak a lot, he not gonna go on the internet and say what he’s gotta say. But like, deep down behind closed doors, he probably was going through it.”</em></p>



<h2>Kiyan Anthony says Bronny James could ‘prosper’ in the NBA</h2>



<p>He went on to say that this has plenty to do with social media, adding that Bronny is actually a pretty good person and player who could have a bright future in the league: </p>

<p>“<em>You’re seeing this every day. You’re on social media, you can’t even scroll twice without seeing a post with your name on it, and he probably talked to his pops about it, but at the end of the day, he’s nice that boy,”</em> Anthony continued.<strong><em> “I think he really has a chance to prosper in the NBA.”</em></strong></p>



<p>At the end of the day, that’s a two-way street. In the same way that people shouldn’t hate him because of his father, they shouldn’t root for him just because of his father, either. He’ll have to earn his stripes just like everybody else.</p>

<p>Despite drawing interest from <strong>USC, Florida State, Arizona State, and Bryant</strong>, Kiyan Anthony committed to Syracuse. He’s paying homage to his father with his jersey number selection, picking the one he wore during one of the best chapters of his career.</p>
