Many quarterbacks have come and gone throughout NFL history, but only a few of them managed to leave their mark in the sport. And when it looked like history had already been written, Aaron Rodgers found a way to cement his own legacy in the league.
Widely considered as one of the best quarterbacks of all time, Rodgers had to wait for three years before the Green Bay Packers finally allowed him to showcase his talent. And when the moment arrived, he seized it.
Not only did he achieve the ultimate glory by winning a Super Bowl in 2011, Rodgers went on to win NFL MVP four times. Even so, the veteran quarterback once made it clear that he doesn’t stand above other legends.
Aaron Rodgers names the best NFL QB of all time
During an interview with Serge Ibaka on the former NBA star’s show “How Hungry Are You?” in 2022, Rodgers was asked to pick his top five quarterbacks in NFL history.
While Rodgers didn’t want to include himself on that list, he did so after Ibaka’s insistence. Then, he named the following legends: Joe Montana, Steve Young, Brett Favre, and Tom Brady. Rodgers, however, believes that the latter leads the pack.
“I mean I think, greatest quarterback? I think you gotta go by championships, probably. So that’d be Tom,” Rodgers said in reference to Brady and his seven Super Bowl rings.
Rodgers chooses the best QB in Packers history
During the same interview, Rodgers was also asked by Ibaka to choose between himself or Brett Favre as the best quarterback to ever don the Green Bay Packers uniform. Of course, not a comfortable question.
Rodgers initially opted to mention Bart Starr, so Ibaka insisted him to answer his original question. Rodgers gave in by naming himself, admitting: “Me. Who’s not going to say yourself?“
