The Dallas Cowboys look like the most dysfunctional team in the NFL right now. The players and coaches don’t get along, they’ve lost two of their quarterbacks to injury, and their defense just can’t seem to get a stop.

And to make things even worst, team owner Jerry Jones fueled even more controversies when discussing Dontari Poes’s situation, as the team recently decided to cut the 30-year-old defensive tackle.

Jones was merciless when talking about Poe’s physical condition, criticized his work ethic, and hinted that there would be even more to the decision of releasing him, even though he refused to get into details.

Jerry Jones Rips Dontari Poe For Being Overweight

“When you’re 30 pounds overweight and you’re not doing anything about what’s keeping you from performing well on the field, there is no reason to get into the other stuff, Jones said, according to ESPN.

The media went on to question what did he mean with ‘the other stuff’, clearly referring to the fact that Dontari Poe was the only player on the team to kneel during the national anthem this season.

Jerry Jones Refuses To Talk About Dontari Poe Kneeling During The Anthem

I understand your question and I’m deliberately not going to answer it. We have a platform here but the platform on the football field has a high standard, and he [Poe] was not up to the standard. He needed to correct that and he did not. I’m going to leave it at that,” Jones said.4

Jerry Jones’ political stance isn’t a secret to anybody and he’s never been the kind of guy who’ll shy away from a controversial conversation, but you have to wonder whether this was the time to get into this delicate subject.
