Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are ready to select Shedeur Sanders in the first round of the draft, according to a report by Ian Rapoport. Aaron Rodgers will not have any influence on how they operate in their search for the future franchise quarterback.
“There’s a strong possibility, maybe, that Shedeur Sanders goes earlier than the Steelers (No. 21 spot). So, the Pittsburgh Steelers asked to meet with Shedeur Sanders and he agreed because there is in some form or fashion also a possibility that if he slides past number three, he could potentially be there.”
If the Titans, Browns, and Giants do not select Sanders in the Top 3, the only team with high chances of drafting Shedeur would be the Saints at No. 9. If that happens, the Steelers could see it as an opportunity to potentially find the star who could make them Super Bowl contenders.
Who will be the Steelers starting quarterback in 2025?
Shedeur Sanders could be the future starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, regardless of Aaron Rodgers’ final decision. If the veteran signs, Deion Sanders’ son could wait and learn.
If Rodgers decides to reject Pittsburgh, Mason Rudolph is already ready as a transition quarterback while Shedeur develops under the tutelage of Arthur Smith and Mike Tomlin. Since Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement, the Steelers have needed a star for the next 20 years, and Shedeur at No. 21 would be unexpected, but they are ready for it.
