It seems like the Jacksonville Jaguars are far from done making moves, as they recently – and shockingly – waived their star running back Leonard Fournette just three years after taking him with the 4th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Fournette had a strong rookie season but couldn’t build on from it over the past couple of years, mostly because of the team’s struggles as a whole. Now, it seems like they just couldn’t get any suitable trade offers for his services.

“We couldn’t get anything, a fifth, a sixth, anything. We couldn’t get anything,” Head coach Doug Marrone told Adam Schefter, who was the first to break the news of his release. Apparently, the team had been shopping him for months.

New England Patriots, Washington Football Team Interested In Signing Leonard Fournette

Thenagain, it seems like the former LSU standout won’t be a free agent for long, as both the New England Patriots and Washington Football Team are reportedly interested in making a run at him, as per CBS Sports.

Bill Belichick has a reputation from turning other team’s misfits into All-Pros and given Fournette’s talents and the Patriots’ recent woes in the running game, it looks like he’d be tailor-made for them.

As for Washington, the team is entering a new era, and adding a pair of fresh legs next to Adrian Peterson would most likely give them a huge edge as they look to bounce back from a terrible season.4

Leonard Fournette: Still Young, Still Promising

Fournette has the potential of being one of the best backs in the league given the right environment. He amassed2,631 rushing yards (4 YPC) and 17 touchdowns throughout3 seasons with the Jaguars.

The NFL doesn’t seem to be patient with running backs anymorebut we’re talking about a tackle-breaking machine that’s just 25 years old, so he’s definitely worthy of another shot in the league.
