The dust has settled, and Cristiano Ronaldo is back at Manchester United, for Juventus, who have begun a rather slow Serie A campaign, fans are already asking who will pick up the slack and provide what Ronaldo provided the Italian giants, goals. The transfer window is set to close tomorrow and there could still be some last-minute transfers, Juve will need to move fast in order to get much needed firepower.
Goals were lacking this weekend as Juventus could not score against Empoli in a shocking 0-1 defeat, and against Udinese, Juventus were surprisingly outshot in the 2-2 draw to start the season. Massimiliano Allegri has an entire season to right the ship and there have been rumors as to who the club might sign, Mauro Icardi being one of the strongest to replace the 36-year-old Euro Cup winner.
There have been other names mentioned that have picked up steam and others not so much, but according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Juventus will not be pursuing the following players to replace Cristiano Ronaldo this coming season.
Sergio Agüero
Sergio Agüero signed with Barcelona to play with his friend Lionel Messi on a free transfer, since Messi left, nothing has gone right for “El Kun”. Agüero is sidelined with an injury that has kept him out of preseason and the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches for Argentina, Juventus never had intentions to bring in Agüero according to reports.
Eden Hazard
Eden Hazard has been on Juventus radar, but Hazard is nowhere near Ronaldo level, and Juve need a forward. Hazard has found playing time hard at Real Madrid and while Juventus may pull the trigger on the Belgium midfielder, don’t expect it to be in this transfer window.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has also been crossed off the list by Juventus according to reports, Aubameyang has had a very successful career but the priority of Juve is to go younger for the striker that will replace Ronaldo. At 32, Aubameyang is not a priority.
