The highly-anticipated 2025 Met Gala took place in New York, and while honorary co-chair LeBron James missed the carpet, many sports stars did make an appearance at the event, including seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, NFL champion Saquon Barkley, Serena and Venus Williams, and more.
This year, the Met Gala celebrates Black style in the Atlantic diaspora and the Black dandy’s influence in fashion. However, the theme of the year is “Tailored For You,” which leaves the door open for interpretation.
Of course, the athletes didn’t disappoint when stepping into one of the most followed red carpets of the year. Apart from the already mentioned, other sports legends that were seen at the Met Gala were multiple Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens, of the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, WNBA star Angel Reese and more, including retired athletes.
